In Scotland between 2015 and 2019 there was a loss of over 1000 acute available beds in our hospitals. Waiting lists in our NHS are now at record levels with 1 in 8 Scots on NHS waiting lists. I am pushing the government to bring forward clear proposals to tackle this – see below

Social Care Criris: FMQs – 24th February 2022
We need to address the immediate crisis in social care by fixing the two-tier workforce that is currently in place with different pay/terms and conditions depending on public or private employers – that should be the immediate focus of the Scottish Government – see my question to the FM here
SNP Failure on National Energy Company
I have condemned the Scottish Government over their failure to establish a promised national energy company in the wake of the cost-of-living crisis. Speaking in the Scottish Parliament I challenged Angus Robertson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, External Affairs and Culture, to explain why the Scottish Government had failed to use powers already available […]
Clarity Needed on Fire Alarm Chaos
My office has received many enquiries over the last week about the new fire alarm law change, with many older constituents deeply worried, either because they can’t afford the new alarms or because they don’t know where to get the alarms, if they can get any help, can’t find a supplier or anyone fitting them. […]
Government Must Treat Soaring Energy Prices As An Emergency

The coalition is made up of 19 organisation including Clean Up Gambling, the […]
Scotland’s Climate Assembly
I was delighted to join with members of Scotland’s Climate Assembly recently to discuss and listen to views on how Scotland should change to tackle the climate emergency in an effective and fair way following the publishing of the full report by the assembly. Government, businesses and citizens all have a role to play in […]
SPICe Briefing on Gulls
I have been contacted by a number of constituents about nuisance gulls. To understand more about the background of this issue, please see the below briefing composed by the Scottish Parliament Information Centre. My main query to SPICe was that while gulls are protected I wanted to find out if this protection extends to when […]
