Volunteers from 15 local groups came together this weekend in Cowdenbeath to promote the value of volunteering and the work the groups do in the local area to support the wider community.
Organised by ‘My Cowdenbeath,’ a community interest company, the drop-in event highlighted the work of 15 voluntary groups and organisations from the area and encouraged locals to consider signing-up as a volunteer to help support the work of the local organisations in the local community.
I spoke with volunteers at the event to hear first hand the work they do. There are many people in the local community who give up their time and work hard to support the wider community and I thank them all. This event organised by ‘My Cowdenbeath’ was a great chance to hear about the work of local organisations and local people.
From local food banks, school parent councils to the work of Citizens Advice, the youth groups, advice shops and the local gala’s and civic weeks all are dependent on volunteers and if you have any free time then you will be made very welcome and supported to get involved. All such groups and volunteers make a big impact on our area, and they want to encourage more people to get involved.
If you were not able to get along to the event in Cowdenbeath but are interested in getting involved then you can email vicky@mycowdenbeath.scot and she’ll hook you up with our Volunteer Newsletter and local groups looking for helpers.
