I was delighted when I saw the success of the ‘Lo’gelly Lunches’ this week when I dropped in to meet many of the local people who drop into the Salvation Army Hall in Lochgelly on a Friday.
I would especially like to thank the volunteers who make and serve the food. This activity is a great example of the community spirit that exists in Lochgelly and I was delighted to meet the volunteers who make it happen every Friday.
The club has been running since May and is a great success serving nutritional food and offering good company to socialise as well as support. Local people are giving up their time to prepare and service the food and I want to thank them all for the work they do.
The group welcome all residents and local councillor Linda Erskine who also volunteers said she was ‘encouraged’ by the numbers of people attending. She said: “We felt there was a need for such a facility in Lochgelly and to date that has been proven to be the case. We are grateful to local people and local businesses who donate to the project and I would encourage anyone in Lochgelly who has a bit of time on a Friday to pop in get a bit of lunch and enjoy the company”.
