Industrial strife – workers’ rights

Unite

I was very proud to attend the launch of a new book  ‘The Battle of Grangemouth – A Worker’s Story’

Written by Mark Lyon about his own experiences as the UK vice-president of Unite and the on-site union convener when the industrial action and shutdown crisis hit three and a half years ago, important questions are raised about how a rich tax exile can threaten the UK’s fuel and petrochemical industry.

It also show how workers stood their ground with the support of their union.

The story of what happened at Ineos demonstrates why, as the implications of Brexit for workers across Britain becomes clear, being organised is vital for the defence of basic rights at work.

Well worth a read.
