I brought a motion to the Scottish Parliament to celebrate the hard work of pupils from Forgandenny Primary School who took part in an event called “The Moment” for COP26.
“The Moment” took place on the 29th of October and was an initiative of the Children’s Parliament for COP26 where school-age children and their elected representatives hold a joint climate surgery, discussing the pupils’ “Calls to Action” for climate change and what might be done to make a real difference.
The school has been working closely with the Children’s Parliament over the last two years and has three pupil members of the Climate Change Makers group.
It was great to hear the enthusiasm for action on climate change in the lead up to COP26. These pupils are credit to their school and community.
Well done to all these Climate Change Makers for taking part and making sure children’s voices and ideas are heard, as afterall it is their future in our hands.

Motion Text: That the Parliament celebrates the hard work of pupils at Forgandenny Primary School, who took part in an event called The Moment on 29 October 2021, which was an initiative of the Children’s Parliament for COP26 where school-age children and their elected representatives hold a joint climate surgery, discussing the pupils’ “Calls to Action” for climate change and what might be done to make a real difference; understands that the school has been working closely with the Children’s Parliament over the last two years and has three pupil members of the Climate Change Makers group; recognises that “The Moment” supports children and young people to make their voices heard about climate change, allowing elected representatives to hear the ideas and build a national picture of engagement with children’s voices across Scotland through “The Map”, which will be showcased as part of COP26, including being presented to international parliamentarians at Globe Legislators’ COP26 Summit on 5 November 2021; wishes every success for all staff and pupils at Forgandenny Primary School, and hopes that the children continue to engage with their elected representatives on the issues that matter to them the most.
