A Community Hub based in Cowdenbeath that provides direct support to veterans and those struggling with the cost of living, isolation and homelessness is gearing up for a busy winter period.
The Knights Templar Goodwill charity based at Thistle Street, Cowdenbeath, was founded by Veterans in March 2021 and has continued to grow and support hundreds of people across the area as well as working in some of Scotland’s large cities.
This week I met with organisers at Thistle Innovation Park (Former NCB Workshops) and saw first hand the amazing work the volunteers do.
The level of enthusiasm to help others from this group is just brilliant and I want to thank those who have built this charity and the 29 volunteers that do so much to help others in these difficult times.
The Hub is used as both a collection point and a place where people can pop in and pick up a care pack without having any stigma or embarrassment attached. At The Hub people are also able to get a bite to eat, prepared food to take away as well as clothing, other essentials and a warm friendly environment.
I also heard that specific functions are run through the week and anyone who wishes to drop in is made very welcome. I know that many are struggling at this time but some are struggling a lot more than others and these volunteers are there helping those who struggle most. Their message is don’t struggle on your own, pop in for a chat and help is available.
The charity is also grateful for great support they are getting from local shops who are providing groceries and goods and to local people who donate to help others.
Everyone is made welcome in a warm environment at Thistle Street in Cowdenbeath. People can contact the Hub on 08001931307 or check the web site at https://ktgcscotland.com/
