‘Your Water Your Life’ campaign urges people to refill bottles from the tap.
Scottish Water have launched a new campaign, ‘Your Water Your Life’, to encourage and promote the use of refillable bottles and the benefits of topping these up with fresh, great-tasting tap water.
This can also help reduce our reliance on single use plastics, which we know are polluting our environment. If you go to any beach in the country you will find discarded plastic waste, and it is causing havoc for our environment. Not only can it kill fish and marine life, but it is finding its way into our food. We all remember the harrowing scenes from Planet Earth and the call to stop relying so heavily on single use plastics.
The campaign was announced on Wednesday 20th June in Glasgow’s George Square with Scotland’s first ‘pop up water bar’ to show how topping up from the tap is the best way to consume water.
In the coming weeks, they will also be unveiling their first outdoor refillable water point and also launching a marketing campaign.
‘Your Water Your Life’ is being backed by organisations such as Zero Waste Scotland and Keep Scotland Beautiful. They hope this campaign will help bring about a change in consumer behaviour and encourage people to top up from the tap as well as encourage businesses to support customers with the ability to top up from the tap at their premises.
How you can help
The easiest way to play your part is to carry your own refillable water bottle while you are out and about.
