I was delighted when in Aberdeen to meet with Council Leader Jenny Laing and Finance spokesperson Willie Young and hear from them about their on going programme of new house building providing much needed new council houses for rent in the city.

The truth is, it is Labour Councils that have been to the fore in trying to tackle Scotland’s housing crisis. Even when the SNP Edinburgh Government were cutting the money going to councils for housing, local councillors came up with other ways of raising the cash and meeting to at least meet some of the demand for rented public sector housing.
