Cowdenbeath MSP Alex Rowley this week met with the Head Teacher of Cowdenbeath Primary School Mrs Mary Quinn to hand over a gift and thank her for her 15 years of service to Cowdenbeath Primary School and 38 years to teaching in schools in the Lothian’s and Fife.
Mrs Quinn is retiring as Head Teacher on the 10th of February after steering the Cowdenbeath School to an excellent inspection report from Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Schools and driving up standards making Cowdenbeath one of the top schools in Fife.
Alex Rowley said; “I want to pay tribute to the dedication of Mary Quinn and thank her for all the hard work and leadership that she had given to staff and children at Cowdenbeath Primary School. She is rightly proud of the achievements of the school and puts this down to the excellent team work of everyone involved in the school but every good team needs a manager and Mary has carried out that duty with diligence, great wisdom and dedication and I wish her the very best for the future”.
Mrs Quinn started her teaching career at Roswell in Midlothian and then went onto teach in schools in Bonnyrigg and Edinburgh before taking up the post in Cowdenbeath 15 years ago. She says she is proud of all the staff and pupils at Cowdenbeath, the vision they have created for the school and all they have achieved. Mrs Quinn’s last schools day with the pupils will be the 9th of February.
