I had the great pleasure of attending a performance of ‘Sole Searching: A Hootenanny’ which is a socially engaged theatre project by Inverkeithing Community Initiative in partnership with Tiny Fragments Theatre and Fife Council.
A Hootenanny: ‘a celebration, a gathering, a party, an occasion which people assemble for’ is a performance where 4 women question their ‘invisibility’ in the system, why they have been ignored, overlooked, forgotten. 4 women celebrate their identity, their class, their right to positively protest, their right to be seen and heard!
These 4 women invite you to join them in their hootenanny and walk in their shoes.
This was a thought provoking performance written and acted by Gemma Angel, Muriel Houston, Heather Kerachan and Mary Thomson and I am delighted to say will not be performed in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 2nd September.
Well done to Gemma, Muriel, Heather and Mary and to the show Director Clara Bloomfield and Editor Jo Ross. I attended the performance along with Fife Council Deputy Leader, Leasley Laird and we cant wait to see it again at the performance in Edinburgh.
