For the first time in the history of local government in Fife, the new Administration has published a draft budget setting out what it proposes to cut to balance the books as well as out lining the areas where it intends to invest.

You can take part in the budget outlining your views and what you think of the proposals by going online at www.fifedirect.org.uk/budget or by picking up a budget pack at your local council office or library.

Fife Council leader Alex Rowley said; “We have a very difficult few years ahead and are working to take £65.7 million out the budget over the next three years to balance the books between what we need to continue services and what we are going to be allocated from the Scottish Government.
Whilst I will continue to make the case for further funding for local government in Fife and for the Scottish Government to priorities frontline
services and communities, we will have to bring forward a budget that is balanced and the draft budget sets out how we propose to do this over this year and the next three.

“We want to bring about a far greater transparency and accountability to local government in Fife and this draft budget is a step in that direction. I hope people will get involved and let us know what they think”.
